Following a meeting between BST, Brett Ormerod and AFC Fylde held yesterday evening, we must inform you that reluctantly the decision has been taken to postpone Brett's Celebration Match from Sunday 31st July until Sunday 28th August 2016.
This decision was brought about by a number of factors. The most significant relates to a possible risk that the new stadium’s safety certificate might not be issued in time and/or could be limited in some way.
Whilst acknowledging the inconvenience to those who have already purchased tickets and who might not be able to attend on the revised date, on balance BST believes this decision to be the right one.
Rescheduling the game to 28th August removes any concerns about whether the safety certificate will be issued in time and removes the risk and chaos of any last-minute postponement.
Over and above that, this decision also means that AFC Fylde will be able to release a small number of additional standing tickets on the North Terrace for a game that is already heading towards being a sell-out.
Furthermore, there will also be an opportunity to make additional seats available in the new Italian restaurant to those who were disappointed at missing out on the hospitality option.
Finally, it is hoped that holding the game over the August bank holiday weekend will help create a festival atmosphere and will also make it easier for exiles to attend the fixture.
If anyone who has purchased tickets is unable to attend on the new date, they will be entitled to a full refund as a matter of course. Supporters who have already bought tickets and can attend in August do not need to do anything further as your existing booking will be valid.
We hope you all understand and support the decision.
