BST final mascot for the season – Maryna

Maryna was our mascot for the West Bromwich Albion game. Her family moved from Ukraine after their house was destroyed. Maryna who was accompanied by her mother and other members of her family, was able to celebrate her first Blackpool game in style. Hopefully, it will be the first of many; and we were immensely proud to do something special for a family that have endured a terrible time in the last year or so.

Throughout this season BST has paid for fourteen children to attend games as a mascot ; whilst most of these were awarded in a ballot to BST Members and their families, five of the packages have been allocated to families who might not otherwise be able to afford to take their children to a game.( we were able to facilitate 2 more than planned due to a kind donor) We are grateful for the support of Home Start in particular, for helping us to identify families who would benefit from such an opportunity.

We think that this kind of initiative should be a central plank of what we do in the future to help the club to increase the size of the fanbase. Today’s starry-eyed children are tomorrow’s stalwarts, in turn passing their dedication on to future generations. Any money we can invest in making this happen is money well spent.

We have plans to expand this initiative next season. We will be in touch shortly with details.
